SAD:- Nokia Won’t Be Making Phones Anymor

300x250%2B %2BGoogle%2B %2BCombined SAD: Nokia Wont Be Making Phones Anymore!

Nokia’s new CEO Rajeev Suri took the stage on November 14, and mapped out the future of the Finnish telecommunications giant after its phone business got acquired by Microsoft.
SAD: Nokia Wont Be Making Phones Anymore!
First off, as sad as this sounds, and despite some unsubstantiated rumors, Nokia doesn’t plan on making phones anymore. “We are not looking to a direct consumer return to handsets per se,” were his actual words. Still, there is a silver lining, and it is that there is an extremely high interest in licensing the brand, he added, so at some point in the longer term the Nokia name “will return to the consumer world.” Now, whether this will be with phones, or other devices and maybe services, remains to be seen, but the hopes that Nokia will quickly start churning out Android handsets seems dead and buried now.
As for the other aspects of the company, the CEO mentioned that it won’t have its HERE brand of navigation software compete directly with Google Maps, but instead rely on third-party licensees like Amazon, Microsoft or Yahoo, in business-to-business partnerships. We’d say that with the release of the beta app for Android and iOSthis ship had sailed, as the app offers options lacking in Google Maps, like offline navigation, but whatever rocks the boat. Nokia’s CEO expects that all three business units – Networks, Technologies and the mapping business – will be returning to growth and profitability very soon, but it’s the end of the line for Nokia phones piece that strikes us the most in the end.
Nokia today announced it’s first android tablet at the Slush 2014 keynote.

During a public question and answer segment at the Facebook headquarters few days ago, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder has revealed why he wears the same shirt every day. The tech guru who wears the same brand of shirt to work, adorns same to any function irrespective of how important the event might be.
“I really want to clear my life so that I have to make as few decisions as possible about anything except how to best serve this community. I’m in this really lucky position where I get to wake up every day and help serve more than 1bn people, and I feel like I’m not doing my job if I spend any of my energy on things that are silly or frivolous about my life, so that way I can dedicate all of my energy towards just building the best products and services,” he said.

MTN Finally MTN Launches N10 Recharge Card [See Photo]
Subscribers to the telecommunications service provider, MTN Nigeria will, as from Friday (today), have the opportunity to recharge their phones for as low as N10.
The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN, Bayo Adekanmbi, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to Adekambi, the initiative, to be launched in Kano, was to ensure that no Nigerian was shut out of the values that the network offers.
“Apart from making it possible for customers to purchase airtime at the lowest rates, it also offers opportunities for small scale entrepreneurs to sell low-unit portion packs of recharge cards as a new revenue stream.
Again, everyday people such as Maishayi, neighborhood stalls, housewives, students, etc would also benefit immensely from this proposition.”

Apple is once again setting new pre-order records for its new iPhone. After announcing a new “overnight” record last week, Apple is revealing today that it has sold more than 4 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus handsets in just 24 hours.
“iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” says Apple CEO Tim Cook in a statement.
“Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”
The demand for the new iPhones is exceeding the initial pre-order supply according to Apple: “While a significant amount will be delivered to customers beginning on Friday and throughout September, many iPhone pre-orders are scheduled to be delivered in October.”

UNBELIEVABLE:- Charge Your Phone By Shouting At It – See How It Works

Charge your phone by SHOUTING at it: Gadget converts sound waves from speech into five volts of energy for your mobile.
As the class Governor of my department at Yaba college Of technology, It seems phone batteries always die at the same moment you need to make an important call like calling a Lecturer , before class or after class.
But while shouting at your mobile in frustration might seem pointless, a new gadget could soon mean your screams won’t be in vain.
Researchers in London have created a new technology that uses sound, such as chants at a football ground or chatter in a coffee shop, to charge up mobile phones.
Their prototype device, which is about the size of a mobile phone, uses zinc oxide to convert vibrations caused by sound into electricity.
The invention was inspired by previous research at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), which found playing pop and rock music improved the performance of solar cells.
This was because the sound vibrations triggered the movement of material in the solar cell that caused it to improve efficiency by up to 40 per cent.
Developing this research further, Nokia worked with the QMUL team to create an energy-harvesting prototype that could be used to charge a mobile phone using everyday background noise.

Nokia worked with the QMUL team to create an energy-harvesting prototype that could be used to charge a mobile phone using everyday background noise. Pictured here is the zinc oxide used in the device.
google techcribng UNBELIEVABLE: Charge Your Phone By Shouting At It See How It Works
The team used the key properties of zinc oxide, a material that when squashed or stretched creates a voltage by converting energy from motion into electrical energy, in the form of nanorods.
The nanorods can be coated onto various surfaces in different locations making the energy harvesting versatile.
When this surface is squashed or stretched, the nanorods then generate a high voltage.
The nanorods respond to vibration and movement created by everyday sound, such as our voices.
Electrical contacts on both sides of the rods are then used to harvest the voltage to charge a phone.
In order to make it possible to produce these nanogenerators at scale, the scientists found innovative ways to cut costs in the production process.
Firstly, they developed a process whereby they could spray on the nanorod chemicals – almost like nanorod graffiti – to cover a plastic sheet in a layer of zinc oxide.
When put into a mixture of chemicals and heated to just 90°C, the nanorods grew all over the surface of the sheet.
Secondly, gold is traditionally used as an electrical contact, but the team were able to produce a method of using cheap and cheerful aluminium foil instead.
The final device is the same size as a Nokia Lumia 925 and generates five volts, which is enough to charge a phone.
‘Being able to keep mobile devices working for longer, or do away with batteries completely by tapping into the stray energy that is all around us is an exciting concept,’ said Dr Joe Briscoe from QMUL.

HTC Set To Release Its Exclusive Apps To The Rest Of Android

Android HTC Set To Release Its Exclusive Apps To The Rest Of Android
HTC is set to release its in-house apps to other android enabled devices.
HTC has been making Android skins and apps for a long time, but now the company wants its home-grown software to conquer more devices.
According to report from Recode, the Taiwanese phonemaker has started developing apps for Android phones in general, courtesy of a new business unit called HTC Creative Labs.
The Creative Labs team’s first product is called Zoe (originally available on the One M7), which has the power to stitch together up to 16 videos or images. You merely need to select a theme along with the images/videos, as well as a soundtrack, and it can automatically create a highlight reel.
HTC also developed Zoe to be able to share creations, so friends and family can tweak them, perhaps in an effort to come up with an Instagram or Vine of its own.
Still, the app’s pretty basic at this point, and while it’ll be available to competitors like Samsung and LG, it can only be installed on high-end devices loaded with Android 4.4.
HTC has plans to help boost Zoe’s presence despite those limitations, though, including forging partnerships with music and sports companies.
The new Zoe will come out later this week, with more to follow, as the Creative Labs team plans to release other HTC apps from its own phones’ confines in the future.

New pictures have emerged which appear to show scratch proof alloy Liquidmetal being used in the new iPhone 6.
The material is designed to make the famous Apple logo nearly impossible to mark, according to luxury iPhone modifiers Feld & Volk.
The Moscow-based designers say new pictures show the final design of the iPhone 6 including recessed buttons down the side, designed to stop the user accidentally changing the volume.
Apple has reportedly expressed interest in using Liquidmetal in products in the past and speculation has even suggested the technology giants could use the material in the phone’s body.
According to manufacturers, Liquidmetal is stronger than titanium but can still be molded into intricate shapes.
Speculation had been rife the smartphone’s new casing could use a light-up logo, which could let you know when a message had arrived or even when it was going to rain.
The illuminated logo has been a rumoured feature in most updates of the iPhone since it launched in 2007.
But the new pictures indicate this idea has been ditched in favour of a more traditional look.
It is also looking less and less likely the near-indestructible sapphire crystal will be used on the phone’s screen  – at least to begin with.
Market research team TrendForce LEDInside say Apple will not be able to make enough of the much-anticipated and heavily rumoured glass screens in time for the release date.
Insiders expect the iPhone 6 to be launched on September 9 and Apple remain notoriously tight-lipped about any details surrounding the new handset.
It comes after new pictures were leaked appearing to show the product packaged and ready to hit the shelves.
The photographs show the phone in a box and were released by a source close to an Apple beta tester.

Google Acquires Directr, An App For Shooting Short Films On Your Phone

directr Google Acquires Directr, An App For Shooting Short Films On Your Phone
Directr, an app that we’ve covered a few times since its launch back in 2012, has just been snatched up by Google.
In an age of ultra-brief videos, Directr existed to help users and businesses shoot videos that were a bit longer than your average Vine — think ads, or promo clips, or family holiday videos.
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the pieces fit together like that of a smaller purchase/acquihire: the Directr product will live on (now free) under its own branding, but the team behind it is joining YouTube’s video ad team.
Directr’s approach was clever: to encourage users to shoot better video, Directr would provide templates (or “storyboards”) that explained how a scene might best be framed/shot. The user would just fill in the blanks with their own clips, and Directr would piece it together, add music, and prep everything to be shared across your myriad Facebooks and Twitters.
Directr came in two forms: one for personal use, and one for business. The former focused on videos you might shoot to share with friends (travel videos, family holiday gatherings, etc), while the latter focused on teaching companies to shoot things like testimonials, product demos, etc.
The personal edition was free but downloading a finished video cost 99 cents; the business version cost $250-$500 a year, depending on what features you needed.
Director had raised around $1.7M to date.

BlackBerry is fighting a battle to remain relevant in the smartphone space, and it has two new products in the pipeline that it hopes will reverse its fortunes. While the company has shown off both the new Classic and the Passport, it’s the latter that has garnered the most attention.
Checkout Photos Of The New Blackberry Passport Smartphone
Until now, we didn’t know much about the Passport other than the fact that it featured a wide QWERTY keyboard and an unusual 4.5” 1440×1440 display. For the BlackBerry fans out there that cling on to any new release from the Canadian company, CrackBerry has posted a user-written, pre-release review of the Passport.
On the “square” screen:
The screen is one of such elegance, that it even made the most diehard iPhone user smile. It’s got one of the sharpest screens out there and the UI that felt cramped on the Q10 now is unleashed in a fashion that renders you hopelessly in love…
The screen is everything on the BlackBerry Passport. They finally figured it out. It’s the focus here and also takes over a large amount of the duties of the keyboard. At a whopping 1440×1440 pixels, the screen is pleasantly bright and gives everything more space.
Checkout Photos Of The New Blackberry Passport Smartphone
Processors specs are unavailable at this point, but other hardware features were revealed:
This model has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of on-board memory, though I did add a 64 GB SD card myself. Finally, there is an easily accessible nano SIM slot to allow for easy SIM switching without the battery interfering. With it having an internal battery which lasts forever, BlackBerry put the SD card slot and SIM slot on the top of the phone inside of a removable panel.
About that new keyboard:
So how does this work? It works in a fashion never witnessed before. The symbols, characters, numbers and everything else is on screen and intuitively changes depending on where you are. If you are on the compose panels contact list, you will get the numeric buttons on the screen and if on the body portion, the symbols and character can be invoked.
This was of course a prototype device and not every feature was functioning properly. It was also running an older version of BlackBerry’s flagship operating system (10.3.0.428), so performance and software features should be further fleshed out by the time it is officially released.
Checkout Photos Of The New Blackberry Passport Smartphone

Is the Passport enough to get folks out of their Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxies? Probably not. But it’s at least nice to see BlackBerry looking to differentiate itself in the market with the Passport.

airtel+4g Tech: How To Be Eligible For Airtel 4GB BIS Data Plan
I can really tell when I’m enjoying internet surfing with the fastest internet speed; and I can tell when it’s slow. I make up this post because of those that are in one way or the other finding it difficult to subscribe for the Airtel 4GB.
Surprisingly, I noticed my Airtel Gigs is not actually moving as in excessive zapping of data for the past few days as it used to.
airtel+4gb Tech: How To Be Eligible For Airtel 4GB BIS Data Plan
Maybe an adjustment have been made, but I can’t really say. So many of us have wondered why on earth Airtel will select those that are Eligible to Use the 4GB data plan.

Why Won’t Your SIM Be Eligible For The Plan?

Dial *440*161# should let you know if you are eligible or not. Unfortunately, many are not eligible.
Early hours of this morning, a committed blog contributor in person of Mr Ben share with me this method of easily getting eligible for the Airtel 4GB; after Airtel told him that he’s not eligible for the plan. Two weeks later, he tried the code below and he was told Eligible.

How Can I Be Eligible For The Airtel 4GB Plan?

It’s so simple; it’s all wrapped up in a code. Dial *440*440# Once you dial the code above, if you are lucky enough, you will get an eligible message. And if you didn’t get an eligible message, keep your SIM for some couples of weeks and try it again.
Mind you, this Airtel 4GB for #1500 works on all device including Java phones.

Nigerians Spend More On Recharge Cards Than On Food

wpid recharge cards Nigerians Spend More On Recharge Cards Than On Food
In 2012/2013 fiscal year, an average Nigerian household spent more on recharge cards than they did on household supplies such as petrol, soap, washing powder and personal food, says the report from a survey carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in collaboration with the World Bank.
Nigerians collectively spent about N449.7bn/month on recharge cards, hence making recharge cards account for 72.3% of the expenses made by the sampled households monthly against the combined 37% that cover food, personal care, and household products including petrol. Not very surprising, I must say, because at the end of 2013, 120 million out of about 170 million of the Nigerian population owned mobile phones and well, SMS and phonecalls.
No one benefits from this turn of events more that the NIgerian telcos, and their investors. They’re definitely smiling to the bank.

30 Second Phone Chargers To Be Available In 2016? [See Video Of How It Works]

bbm 30 Second Phone Chargers To Be Available In 2016? [See Video Of How It Works]

My Samsung S4 takes up to 3-4hours to complete charging and this could be annoying sometimes, but it’s an annoyance we’ve all come to accept.
Basically, there is no choice, you can either wait or kepp moving around with a dead battery.
Years from now, we will all be laughed at thinking back to our time, because then, there is a possibility that there will be a charger to charge your phone complete and fully charged for only 30seconds. A video of the prototype was posted on YouTube, watch it at the end of the post.
30 second phone charging 500x237 30 Second Phone Chargers To Be Available In 2016? [See Video Of How It Works]
The secret behind that technology was unveiled by a company called StoreDot which is called Nanodot bio-organic nanocrystals. (sounds strange?) this sounds strange to me too, lets find out what it means bellow.
StoreDot is a company based in Israeli which recently demonstrated its Nanodot technology at the Microsoft “Think Next Conference” in Tel Aviv.
He said that at the core of the new technology was the use of peptides, compounds containing amino acids.
“We are modifying the surface of the electrodes with bio-organic compounds, peptides, to increase the chemical reaction to produce extra energy,” he said.
He also added
“It allows us to avoid the most annoying aspect of our smartphones, of which we are demanding more and more, and to ensure that we have a charged telephone all day,”
Breaking down this words scientifically using its terms,: you could be able to fully charge your phone in 30 seconds by 2016.
There are some things to note about the Store-Dot technology.
First, this charger is as large as a laptop charger, which isn’t really pocketable for traveling. I’m sure it’s also very expensive to make.
However, Its known that StoreDot will reduce the size and price of the charger over the year, Eventually, the charger is expected to cost twice as much as an average phone charger (around $60), which is a lot lesser than what i would pay for something as cool and useful as this.
This device is expected to hit market in late 2016, so we’re still a couple years away. However, in a mobile world that has constantly struggled with battery life innovations, this could be an important turning point.
