In a rare public show by the Cameroon army, photos of the Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau were made public alongside a statement claiming he was killed during a cross border raid deep inside Nigeria by the Cameroon military. A Cameroon military source who spoke to Cameroon Concord late last night, revealed that Abubakar Shekau was killed following an aerial bombardment of his hideout inside Nigeria. The Cameroon army has ever since yesterday been in serious combat against thousands of Boko Haram fighters trying to enter Cameroon via Fotokol from Gambaral Ngala in Nigeria.Is that the same man though?

Political campaigns have begun and the first casualty has been recorded
in the centre of Lagos politics, the Lagos Island. A popular local
politician named Azeez Ashake was shot dead at close range in front of
his house at Isale Eko on Saturday September 20th by suspected political
thugs.
His son, Usman was also shot but is said to still be alive receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Lagos Island. Azeez Ashake is said to be a strong leader of a particular political group in Lagos Island, and is said to be very influential. A dream accomplished is sweet to the soul.
It must be so frustrating to get up and go to a job you absolutely detest and dread …every single day of your life. It is even more annoying when you drag your feet to a dreadful job where you are neither appreciated nor valued.
Now, consider the combination of working a deadbeat job, in an unproductive environment, with angry people. Add that mix to your poor attitude and bad environmental factors like unending traffic, and in my case, done in extremely frigid temperatures, skiing to an office sometimes slipping on the ground a few times, only to tolerate people you do not care about and who do not care about your existence either…what a life!
When you reflect on the effort, struggle and energy that go into chasing someone else’s dream, at some point, it might be worth calling a timeout from the hustle to evaluate the cost against the price of your own dreams.
I often ponder on how hard we humans try and the struggles we face shedding blood, sweat and tears doing things and placing our priorities in so many efforts and the only problem? It’s effort in the wrong place! It is outrageous how much pain we endure to do the things that do not make us live happy, joyful or fulfilled lives. We pray, wish, desire, beg and cajole for jobs that do not get us closer to living a mindful or purposeful life.
Some of these initiatives take us far from our families, exert our physical bodies, wear us out, exhaust us, and suck the very life from us that we should ideally channel to do the things that leave us satisfied and fulfilled.
For some of us, the journey to our regular, average, ordinary lives is much more difficult than the journey to pursuing our dreams, doing things that exhilarate us and lift us to higher energy levels where our creativity and abilities functions at their best.
What is that dream that you have held in your heart for so long? What is that single cause that moves you and drives you and keeps your hope alive? We all have dreams. Each of us has an ambition that we have been called to and this stimulates us, it keeps us going. The thought of achieving it makes us excited. It could be a lifelong dream we have held on to since our innocent years as children; it may be a dream we were enlightened to as knowledgeable adults.
Regardless of how successful we are at the tasks we have engaged ourselves with, there remains a void – a portion of our hearts that remains unmoved and unfulfilled. This is because the satisfaction derived from a job regardless of the monetary benefits cannot be replaced with the contentment we stand to gain from living from a place of purpose and a space of deliberate consciousness.
The point is not to make you despise your job or to leave you feeling crazy for having a job, but for you to never forget who you are and what your primary assignment is – especially if your job is not in tandem and alignment with your dreams.
If walking in your purpose and destiny indeed makes you much more fulfilled, happy and content, why then do you fail to pursue your own gigs even on a part time basis? Why are you so content and complacent with working under duress that yields significantly lower levels of happiness and joy; and in most cases, grossly underutilized with financial rewards that are often times not commensurate with your skills and inborn talents?
Why are you so petrified to invest in yourself? If indeed there is a freedom and liberation that comes with being occupied with something else, why then aren’t you as proud and determined to go after your dreams from 5pm-9pm? Why are you so caught up with sticking to your comfort zone of ranting and bickering about your employer and occupied with sending out job applications? Do you not believe? Are you not convinced that true emancipation can only come from that which is deeply engrained in your soul and that which gives you total and complete peace and even success?
How can you then make sure you are not running the rat rate and just going through the motions in a hurry nowhere?
Three ways to keep your dream at the forefront of your life:
A dream accomplished is sweet to the soul, the equivalent truth to that is, a dream not accomplished is provoking and frustrating.

Ban on police road-blocks/check-points still in force - IG of police
The Inspector-General of Police, Acting IGP Suleiman Abba, has stated unequivocally that the order banning the setting up of Police road-blocks nationwide is still strictly in force. In a directive issued to all Commands and Formations of the Force, the IGP warned that all semblances of Police road-blocks and permanent check-points reportedly re-emerging in some parts of the country, especially in the South-East, South-South and South-West geo-political zones of Nigeria should immediately be dismantled.
The IGP who described the trend as a serious violation of subsisting order on road-blocks warned that severe sanctions await any Police Commands, Formations and personnel who violate the order.
While charging the Command Commissioners of Police and Heads of Formations to ensure total compliance with this order, the IGP further orders extensive visibility patrol and effective surveillance on our roads.

Red Cross involved in secret Boko Haram prisoner swap to release Chibok girls
Officials from the Geneva-based organisation have sat in on talks between the Nigerian government and a senior Boko Haram leader currently held in one of the country's maximum security prisons. The Red Cross officials have also visited a number of other jails, identifying a list of 16 senior commanders that Boko Haram wants freed in exchange for its hostages.

Darius Wlodarski,
a 41-year-old man from Poland, queued outside an Apple store in
Bristol, England for 44 hours to buy an iPhone 6 to make his estranged
wife happy, Daily Mail reports.
He arrived a day before anyone else, and was the first person in the queue.
His wife, Joana, whom
he was married to for 20 years, is said to have left him after accusing
him of “valuing material possessions over his family.”
Despite their breakup, Wlodarski was determined to keep a promise he made to her before their split – to buy her an iPhone 6.
“I did so many things wrong and I want to say sorry to my wife and daughter that I wasn’t as good as I could.
It took me a while to realise what really mattered – and that is my family.
My wife
said to me I should remember that it is now ‘things’ that matter, that I
was worrying too much about saving for things, and she was right.
I know an iPhone is another ‘thing,’ but I told her I would get her one and I wanted to keep my promise,” he said.

Improved power will improve telecoms services, says Huawei

Chinese telecoms equipment vendor Huawei Technologies Limited has blamed erratic power supply from the national grid for the poor telecoms services in the country, arguing that as the power situation in the country improves with privatization of the sector, things will get better.
Managing Director (Nigeria) of the firm, Mr Pang Jimin said as telecoms equipment vendor with network optimisation agreements with virtually all the operators, the recurrent issue of poor quality of service (QoS) has nothing to do with equipment but more of the challenges the nation is facing with the power sector.
Jimin said insinuations that Chinese firms were in the habit of manufacturing substandard equipment and shipping them to Nigeria and other third world countries were misleading.
“I think one of the major issues is that you cannot compare this country with China or Europe, is power. In China, there is no power failure. Here there is always power failure and you know when one base transmission station (BTS) goes off, service quality will go down,” he said.
According to him, its range of mobile phones and other products are manufactured with no region or continent in mind, insisting that Huawei, as a global brand does not collude with unscrupulous elements to mass-produce substandard products and ship to the local market for gains.
Speaking about its footprints in the country, Jimiin said it is the only firm that has domiciled its Network Operating Centre (NOC) in the country, adding that others prefer to have theirs offshore. He said: “We have our NOC in this country to give back end support to users of our technology. We are the only technology firm that has NOC in this country; others have in Dubai or Egypt. We believe Nigeria deserves something in-house; something that will be manned by the Nigerian people here. “We have a very big screen in the NOC which helps us to monitor the performance of the network; we have a big demonstration office in Lagos where we come out with many solutions which we allow our customers to see. Others take customers to Europe or America for them to see. We also do software design and invest heavily in research and development.

Bank customers kick against ATM charges

Bank customers have faulted the re-introduction of charges on users of automated teller machines (ATMs) in the country, arguing that it is a reflection of the policy somersault that has continued to be the hallmark of successive adminstrations in the country.
Some of the customers accuse the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, of acting a script prepared for him by members of the Bankers’ Committee to assist them in maintaining liquidity.
According to them, the same CBN that is promoting cashless society is also putting in place a measure that will discourage people from using ATM to transact business.
Reacting to the policy which started September 1, the President, National Association of Telecoms Subscribers of Nigeria (NATCOMS), Deolu Ogunbanjo said the new CBN helmsman has demonstrated his anti-customer person.
“By this action, the new CBN governor, to say the least is not consumer-centric. This singular action does not portray him as a CBN governor that will care for consumers of banking services in Nigeria.
“This ATM charge regime is not in line with international best practices (IBP) and is definitely not in the interest of consumers of banking services in Nigeria.
“The N65 ATM withdrawal charge is punitive, excessive profit-driven, exploitative and totally unacceptable as well as being a terrible welcome gift from the new CBN governor to consumers of banking services in Nigeria.
The welcome gift the new CBN governor should be thinking of giving consumers of banking services in Nigeria is bank account portability as it is currently done in other developed economies. He should take a cue from his colleague in the NCC, Dr. Eugene Juwah, who introduced mobile number portability in Nigeria’s telecoms sector in line with international best practices,” NATCOMS said.
A bank consumer who identified himself simply as David said: “This is the problem with Nigeria and it is the absence of continuity in policy. The former governor who is now a traditional ruler realized that bank customers were being fleeced through flimsy charges. He cancelled the charges only for this former Zenith Bank MD to re-introduce it. It is clear whose interest Emefiele is protecting-the interest of his immediate constituency but it is a great disservice to Nigerians.”
Madam Esther who is a civil servant lamented that she operates a current account with one of the biggest banks in the country but only gets alert on debit.
“When my salary is paid into the account, they will deduct COT. After that, they will continue to make all manner of spurious deduction from the account. SMS costs only N4 but my bank charges me about N70. Now that the new CBN governor has come back with the old charges, it is just another burden that we have to carry,” she said.
Under the new policy, any customer that uses the ATM of bank in which his/her account is not domiciled four times, a charge of N65 will imposed on such customer.
The regulator said it re-introduced the unpopular charges to enable the banks to deploy more ATMs across the country and get resources to maintain them.

Agents say Glo Xchange will empower Nigerians

Agents of Nigeria’s premier super mobile money agent network, Glo Xchange have commended Globacom for the platform which is aimed at deepening financial inclusion and promoting Nigeria’s electronic payment system.
A cross section of the agents who gave the commendation at various town hall meetings held in Ibadan, Benin, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ikeja and Lekki in Lagos over the weekend described the platform as an ingenious income stream that would lift their businesses.
Mr. Raphael Arokoyo of Real Imagination Limited who attended the Ikeja meeting, said: "This is a good means of economic empowerment for Nigerians....” He was confident that the mobile payment option would catch on.
“There is no business without its teething issues. When ATM started, it was difficult to accept. But today, it is taking shape. So, I believe that with the strength of Glo and all its partners, the mobile wallet will be a good venture,” he said. Glo Xchange, in collaboration with the Mobile Money Operators, will be part of the daily life of any Nigerian because it will give them the proximity and convenience to access financial services in their neighbourhood.
