While sharing their experiences, one of the survivors and staff of First Consultant Hospital, Dr. Ibeabuchi Morris, said he was the first to receive late Sawyer at the hospital where he was first treated for Malaria.
The workers were killed while out creating awareness and distributing flyers about Ebola. According to reports, the villagers, who believe the Ebola outbreak is a fabricated story, began throwing rocks at the delegation who arrived to do disinfection work and educate people about how to prevent Ebola.
According to a journalist who escaped and later spoke to a radio station in Guinea, she said residents who have always rebuffed government's effort in containing the spread of the virus, gathered around them, first started by insulting them then the physical assault started. Overall, 8 people were killed.
8 Ebola awareness workers killed by villagers in Guinea
While sharing their experiences, one of the survivors and staff of First Consultant Hospital, Dr. Ibeabuchi Morris, said he was the first to receive late Sawyer at the hospital where he was first treated for Malaria.
He
said after the patient continued to have high temperature, he took
the blood sample and sent it to the laboratory, then contacted Dr.
Stella Adadevoh who advised him to continue attending to the patient
pending the arrival of the test result. He said when the blood result
arrived it was confirmed that he was EVD positive. Sawyer died a few
days later.
Dr. Ibeabuchi disclosed that
he started manifesting symptoms of the disease 12 days later as his
body temperature continued to rise beyond 38.5 degrees Celsius. He said
when his condition continued to degenerate, he reported to the
Lagos State Ministry of Health and was advised to restrict his contact
with members of his family.
According to him, his body
temperature got to an all time high of over 40 degrees at which point
the Medical team from Lagos State came and took him to the isolation
centre after decontaminating his house. He thanked the Lagos State
Government and all the other agencies and individuals who took care of
him and made it possible for him to survive.
Another survivor,
Dr. Adaora Igonoh, thanked the Lagos State Governor and the Government
for their dedication in the battle to contain the spread of the disease
which, according to her, made it possible for some victims, including
herself to survive the virus.
Dr. Igonoh, who is also a staff of
First Consultants Hospital, commended the hospital and the staff for the
risk they took to ensure that the disease did not spread beyond the
limit it did. She also paid tribute to those who lost their lives, adding that without their sacrifice, the story would
probably have been different.
Also giving his testimony, Mr.
Dennis Akagha, fiancee to Justina Akagha, a nursing staff of First
Consultants Hospital who died days after attending to Patrick Sawyer,
said he got to hear about his fiancee's contact with Sawyer when the death
of the Liberian was announced on television. She later told him she'd treated Sawyer.
He said when the symptoms
of the disease started manifesting in Justina, they first thought it was
pregnancy induced or Malaria because she'd told him she wore
protective gloves while attending to Sawyer. He said that on the
14th day, Justina's condition worsened and he took her to First
Consultants from where he was directed to the Isolation Centre in
Yaba where she later passed on.
He disclosed that he did
not immediately go to hospital when he started manifesting the symptoms
until he started vomiting and feeling dehydrated. He said he was
finally taken to the Isolation Centre where he was treated and
discharged after he tested negative of the virus.
Other survivors
who gave testimonies were Dr. Fadipe Akinniyi, also a staff of First
Consultants Hospital and Dr. (Mrs.) Kelechi Emenuo, wife of late Dr.
Emenuo, who treated one of Mr. Sawyer’s companions in Port Harcourt and
later died of the disease.
8 Ebola awareness workers including 3 journalists & 5 health workers
were killed by angry villagers on Tuesday Sept. 16th in Wome
village, same village where the Ebola virus broke out early this year.
Damantang Albert Camara, a government official who spoke on the incident
said the bodies of the workers were dumped in the septic tank of a
primary school
in the village. Their bodies were found yesterday September 18th.
"On Thursday, the eight bodies were found in the septic tank of the primary school in the village. Three of them had their throats slit. They had been killed in cold blood by the villagers" he said

Innovation comes from environments that allow you to collaborate, engage in discovery-driven learning, and make integrative decisions. Resources, processes, values, behavior, climate and success; these have been called the building blocks of innovation.
Apple has launched the iPhone 6 and there are two models, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Here we explain everything you need to know about the new smartphone including release date, price, specs and new features.
The iPhone 6 is now up for pre-order but unless you got in there quickly, you'll be looking at a lengthy wait for your new smartphone. Apple has announced that it received four million orders for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in the first 24 hours - twice that of the iPhone 5s. All of the models, apart from the silver 16GB iPhone 6 state a delivery of 3-4 weeks on Apple's UK store.
The new 4.7in screen is one of the iPhone 6's main features. It's what Apple is calling a Retina HD display. And it isn't just about resolution, which is 1334x750 (that's 326ppi, and 38 percent more pixels than the iPhone 5s). No, the glass front "curves around the side to meet seamlessly with the anondized aluminum back".
Read: The best iPhone 6 alternatives.
In fact, the resolution and pixel density are nothing special. No QuadHD resolution here (as on LG's G3), nor on the iPhone 6 Plus. Instead, Apple is focusing on quality: the iPhone 6 has the most accurate (sRGB accurate, in fact) colours on an iPhone yet. It also has a thinner backlight which helps to make it even thinner - it's just 6.9mm from front to back (around half a millimetre thinner than the iPhone 5s - a difference few people will probably notice).
The polariser is improved and the screen itself is made with a technology called dual-domain pixels, which allow it to have a very wide viewing angles. Contrast is better, blacks are blacker.
The good news is that apps don't need to be optimised for the iPhone 6's new display to work: they just appear larger thanks to the built-in scaler. Naturally, developers can optimise their apps to work better on the iPhone 6 (and 6 Plus).
If you can cast your minds back two years, you'll recall Apple telling the world that the 4in screen was made that way because it was the biggest you could comfortably reach with one hand. With the iPhone 6, a new feature in iOS8 - called reachability - helps make the operating system easier to use. When you double touch the Touch ID button, the whole display slides down so you can reach the top without taking your hand off the bottom of the display.
The sleep/wake button is on the right hand side, rather than the top: another feature that helps with the larger form factor.
Of course, you don't want better performance at the expense of battery life, so the A8 is 50 percent more efficient than the A7 (as in the iPhone 5s) which means it can deliver that performance for longer with basically the same battery capacity. So, as we've come to expect from Apple, the iPhone 6 will last just as long as before, if not longer, claims Apple.
That means 11 hours of video or Wi-Fi browsing, 50 hours of audio playback and 10 hours of 4G LTE or 3G browsing.
The A8 chip has a new co-processor - you guessed it: the M8. It can tell when you're cycling, walking, and running. It can also estimate distance and can tell how many steps you're running and how far you've gone. It can also work out elevation, so rewards you for climbing stairs (but hopefully not riding the escalator).
4G gets a boost to 150Mb/s from 100, and support for 20 LTE bands compared to 13 previously.
There's also a new technology: VoLTE, or voice over LTE, which is much like using Skype, but in theory it should offer even better audio quality. Quite what happened to HD Voice is anyone's guess.
It's no surprise to see Touch ID in the iPhone 6. This can now be used with third-party apps. Thanks to the expected built-in NFC chip and 'Apple Pay' you can use your iPhone 6 to pay for goods - when they support Apple Pay, that is.
Read: iPiphone 6 NFC chip is restricted to ApplePay.

Ebola Patients Buy Survivors’ Blood on Black Market
Many Ebola patients in West Africa have
begun to purchase the blood of Ebola survivors on the black market to
increase their chances of survival.
CNN reports
that Ebola survivors’ blood is referred to as “convalescent serum,” and
is said to possess antibodies that can fight the virus. However,
efficacy of the treatment is unproven.
The serum has been used to treat some patients, including Rick Sacra, an American aid worker. The blood of Kent Brantly, an American who survived Ebola, was used to treat him.
According
to reports, the World Health Organization (WHO) is worried that
patients in the affected countries are obtaining the blood via improper
means, and that doing so could lead to the spread of other diseases
including HIV and other blood-related ailments.
Paul Eze: 5 Important Factors to Consider Before Choosing A Career Mentor
ere on the importance of choosing a career
mentor especially at the onset of one’s career. While there may be great
benefits of the right career mentorship what really determines how much
value you get from it is the quality of the career mentor you end up
with. A career mentor doesn’t just give you advice; the right one
challenges you to do better and also opens up and expands your network
possibilities.
Whether you are fresh out of school and
need someone to help you set off on a successful career path or you are
already bit experienced in a path and intend switching careers these
tips are to help you qualify the key factors your prospective mentor
should possess.
Availability
What use is a mentor that is so busy he can’t reply your emails or even schedule a 20-minute phone call once in a while? Time is an important part of mentorship; anyone who accepts to mentor a younger, inexperienced person already understands the implication (he/she would have to give some time).
So if someone is to be your mentor and rarely makes time to even listen to your questions and stuff you need to clear with him/her you are better off finding another mentor.

Building Ngcareers as a start-up has
been tough and would have been tougher without the mentor we have. Our
Advisor (I think I prefer that to mentor) is one hell of a very busy
entrepreneur in the technology services industry. He travels quite a lot
but still finds time to schedule 30 minutes Skype chats that sometimes
spiral into hours eventually whenever I needed to reach out to him.
That’s what an advisor/mentor should be
able to offer you; some bit of time to listen to what you are doing and
proffer ideas based on their experience and knowledge.
Bluntness
Some would call it forthrightness and I agree. You need a mentor/advisor who doesn’t act or talk like a politician.
Some would call it forthrightness and I agree. You need a mentor/advisor who doesn’t act or talk like a politician.
So when you are deep in trouble, you’ll be sure to get some cutting and strongly blunt advice on what you may not be doing right.
Does your proposed advisor/mentor look
like the type to never tell it to you as it is or hold back something
from you? He is probably not right for you.
One quality of a great mentor/advisor is that any day you have a lengthy talk with him you are bound to think and actually learn more.
One quality of a great mentor/advisor is that any day you have a lengthy talk with him you are bound to think and actually learn more.
For some months we had been working on
some sort of product pivot as we tried to come up with a more
sustainable business model. I decided I needed to share our ideas and
dilemma with my advisor.
After a couple of weeks trying to get an
acceptable time and date for a call we finally agreed a particular
Friday. He took the Skype call from his London hotel; a 30-minute call
extended to 1 hour plus as we talked (or rather he talked and I
listened). Each scenario I raised he tore into it and asked questions
concerning our B2B end of operations that got me scribbling on my pad as
we talked.
The questions and hard-hitting issues he
raised helped us fine-tune the ideas we were working on and certainly
helped put us on the current path to building a sustainable business
model.
Network
One of the reasons you have an advisor/mentor especially in business is that you sometimes take advantage of his expanded network (when absolutely necessary). He must have some good professional network levels that you can tap into when the need arises.
One of the reasons you have an advisor/mentor especially in business is that you sometimes take advantage of his expanded network (when absolutely necessary). He must have some good professional network levels that you can tap into when the need arises.
Most times they know someone who knows
someone who can provide you with the service or information you need.
This is one reason your mentor should be an active, experienced
professional in your industry.
Goal and Career Alignment
Is he someone who can easily understand and offer good insights on your career goals and aspirations? If you are pursuing a career in human resources management you surely would need to reach out to professionals in that field mostly. You definitely need access to people with knowledge of what works in the career path you have chosen and understand what you intend achieving.

You definitely need access to people with knowledge of what works in the career path you have chosen and understand what you intend achieving.
This is an important point; as you would
surely get less value spending all your time with someone who (no
matter how successful they are) do not understand the workings of your
chosen path nor has the passion for it.
Track Record and High Standards for Performance
This is an obvious point. To be successful in any given field you certainly have to make people who have achieved some level of success your primary advisors.

Your advisors are people that have
probably failed several times but have learnt over time what works and
what doesn’t and have pushed on with their improving knowledge and
skills to attain an enviable level of success. Those are the guys that
can make you think more for yourself and challenge you to be better than
you currently are.
