Regular use of Paracetamol can lead to heart attack, stomach ulcer - NAFDAC

Here is a statement from NAFDAC informing Nigerians on the dangers of prolonged use of Paracetamol
The National Agency for Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that the regular use of painkillers especially, paracetamols could lead to heart attacks, stroke and early death, According to a study published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases journal, patients prescribed high doses of the painkiller for long periods were 63% more likely to die unexpectedly. There is also a 68% higher chance of having a heart attack or stroke and an almost 50% greater chance of having a stomach ulcer or bleed.
Generally, Paracetamol is considered by doctors to be safer than Aspirin, which can cause stomach bleeds, and ibuprofen, which has also been linked to heart attacks and strokes. But in 2013, NAFDAC and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had alerted Nigerians that Paracetamol had been associated with risk of rare but serious skin reactions known as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS), Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), and Acute Generalised Exanthematous Pustulosis (AGEP) which can be fatal. To this end, NAFDAC encouraged patients to report such cases to their health care provider, who will channel the complaint to the National Pharmacovigilance Centre, even as British researchers say the risks may have been underestimated and are calling for a major review to be conducted into the drug’s safety. Meanwhile, Philip Conaghan who led an extensive research conducted on patients who took Paracetamol daily observing its effects advised that patients being prescribed the drugs for long periods for arthritis or muscle and joint pain should talk to their doctors about alternative treatments, such as exercise.

A lot of exams are around the corner; Common Entrance, Junior Waec, Senior Waec, Jamb, even your child’s school exams are this month!

The big question you should ask is just how prepared is my daughter? How can I help my child  pass that exam they are scared of? Or would you really rather leave your child’s success to chance? What is the secret to kid’s performance?

We askedPrepClass,Lagos most reputable education consultancy and home tutoring agency to tell us thesecret of success in some of these upcoming exams and how parents can help.

How can I prepare my child for their school exams or Waec
For exams, we have found that the ultimate key is for the parent to hold a prepclass with his or her child 2 hours a day at least 3 times a week. A prep class is a 1hour 3minutes to 3 hours session where you get your 8 – 17 year old to sit with, answer different questions, go through their assignments with them and carefully work through the solutions. During these intensive prepclasses you can learn their strengths and weaknesses in their academics.

As the biggest academics consultancy in Lagos, We have spoken almost 500 parents and found that parents with the best performing kids hold these classes secretly at home, but not every parent can actually afford to do this 3 times a week or so and this is where we come in.
At Prepclasswe recruit and train tutors so we can guarantee parents of getting the best tutors in Lagos

Very graphic photos: Woman cuts off husband's penis, kills him for allegedly cheating on her

The photos accompanying this story are very graphic, very gruesome, very gory! Unbelievably so! Allegedly, this Zimbabwean woman (pictured above) attacked her husband for allegedly constantly cheating on her and cut of his penis. I'm going to share the photos but if you guys complain too much, I will take it down...because it's quite gory! How anyone can do this to someone else is beyond me, especially someone you once loved and is the father of your children. See the pics after the cut...but brace yourselves..it's not pleasant.

Handsome and rich DJ Xclusive poses with his Bentley...

Yeah, he's rich! Remember that article where they said he has houses in the UK? Balling! And then he's handsome. The super star DJ shared a photo of himself posing with a Bentley while talking about how hard work pays. It sure does!

80 children rescued from a BH camp in Cameroon can't remember their names

80 children who were freed from Boko haram camp in Northern Cameroon by Cameroonian soldiers in November 2014 cannot remember their names or where they are from and are yet to be united with their families and loved ones.

According to Christopher Fomunyoh, a director for the US-based National Democratic Institute, the children range from 5-18 years of age and do not speak English, French or any local language.

Mr Fomunyoh in an interview with BBC's Randy Joe Sa'ah in Yaounde, Cameroon said the children had spent so long with their captors and have been indoctrinated into jihadist ideology that they had lost track of who they were.
"They've lost touch with their parents. They've lost touch with people in their villages, they're not able to articulate, to help trace their relationships, they can't even tell you what their names are."he said He said they are now in an orphanage where they are being rehabilitated.

Senate Confirms Musiliu Obanikoro’s Nomination as Minister

Obanikoro BellaNaija
The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday confirmed Musiliu Obanikoro‘s nomination as minister after repeated deferments.
His nomination has sparked a bit of controversy as he was appointed by President Goodluck Jonathan despite allegations that Obanikoro played a key role in the purported election fraud in Ekiti, Premium Times reports.
The report also states that because Obanikoro is a former senator himself, “the Senate allowed him to ‘take a bow and go,’ without answering questions, a privilege reserved for former federal lawmakers.”
APC lawmakers are said to have responded by walking out of the session in protest.
Obanikoro recently took to Twitter to express his thoughts on his nomination:

Hey, Listen Up! Sunlight Detergent’s ‘Alarambara’ Brings Drama to you on Radio!

Alarambara Visual (1)
Money! Power! Friendship! Men! The laughter! The tears! Tips on laundry and cleaning! And the five beautiful, young women who live through it all!
Sounds like the plot for a TV show, right?
Well, Unilever’s Sunlight, the 2-in- 1 detergent that delivers sensational cleaning and all-day fragrance to your laundry, brings you all this and more on a sensational radio drama series.
A Yoruba language production, ‘Alarambara’ shines the spotlight on 5 friends; young, fun-loving women who face the modern challenge of balancing the demands of the home front and all aspects of their lives.
Nollywood star, Mosun Filani is Sisi Oge, the lead character whose advice and great tips help to keep her friends together – flighty Anike, the slightly naïveIyawo, aspiring flirt, Bisi and Iya Alaje, whose avowed love of money will soon get her into hot water with her husband.
Because it is true-to-life, Alarambara from the get-go, shows how an action as seemingly minor as choosing a detergent for one’s laundry needs can have wide-reaching consequences as Anike and Iyawo discover in the maiden episode, Laws of Attraction.
Meanwhile, Iya Alaje whose prior announcement of money being her new paramour and her pursuit of it, rocks the boat of her marriage in episode two,Birds of a Feather which is a crisis that reaches its crescendo with the Baba of the house announcing his own plans to bring in a second Iyawo. But guess who comes to the rescue?
In Aso Ebi Palava, the trouble for our ladies now wears a different colour and has moved from the home scene to a wedding setting as the title suggests.
Already airing on select radio stations across the western parts of Nigeria and with thirteen five-minute episodes in all, Alarambara is set to become the ratings sensation of the current season of Yoruba radio.
So, keep your ears open and let Sunlight in.

“Farming on a commercial scale was really a mirage for me, it was something I could only dream about.
One of the difficulties I faced was the lack of funds to make my dreams come true, however YouWIN! has changed my perspective of doing business as a result of the funding, monitoring and mentoring. Munir Bello: Why Do Men Lie About Their Jobs?

At some point a large number of men have either spiced up their job titles/descriptions or lied about what they do for a living in order to get a female interested in them. The first time I noticed this was when I was out with a friend of mine and we got chatting to some girls. When they asked us what we did for a living he said that he was a lawyer for Sony, I was a music producer and we had just concluded a business meeting (bear in mind that it was 11pm in a student bar). This conversation was not pre prepared and as an innocent wingman I had to play along with the illusion whilst trying my hardest not to burst out laughing at the absurdity of this situation. They asked a lot of questions and he even got a number. I was thinking too much about the consequences to lie about what I did for a living and I also wondered what would happen if I lied to girl who happened to be in the field of work that I was claiming for my own.
It’s clearly not the first time that something like this has happened, I have seen many men chat up girls and spice up their role at work and I always wondered if it really mattered to women. I started with my own experiences. Once upon a time I was a banker and if I went out with my colleagues we never struggled to engage in conversations with women that carried on for a long period of time. Perhaps they were just interested in the mechanics of our day to day as opposed to what could have been in our wallets.
I asked a few ladies about their thoughts on the occupation of a potential love interest. Most said that they weren’t too bothered and a few in the minority did say that they’d only date someone who earned above a certain threshold. The main thing they all agreed upon was that they wanted someone who was ambitious although their definitions of ambition ranged from someone who wanted to progress in their career and earn a six figure salary to someone who wanted to keep improving themselves. The ladies said that they were aware that many men had lied about their jobs and incomes on first meeting. Things became apparent the longer they got to know them and they didn’t have a problem with it. Some said that had they known from the beginning that it was a façade, then they wouldn’t have given the guy a chance whilst others said they knew all along and it didn’t bother them. 99% would not date someone who was unemployed. They didn’t want to be the sole earner in a relationship, neither did they want to end up resenting their partner.
I gathered the men round and all of them said that at some point they had exaggerated their job roles, salaries and even lied about what they did for a living in order to impress a women. Their reasons for doing so varied from simply trying to get someone into bed to being unhappy with their current role and therefore lying about it. They all felt that women would be more impressed with them if they earned more money or had jobs that carried more responsibility and importance. They said this was based on the pressure society placed on them to be successful and also how movies portray the expected roles of a man as being anything and everything.
There are some truths in what all the people had to say. Women do want to feel secure and men want to feel like they are able to provide. There are a minority of women who will only go with men who can provide for them in the material sense and there are plenty of men who are willing to lie about what they do for a living to get a woman interested in them. Times are changing and more women are doing it for themselves and men are becoming increasingly reliant on their charm and personality to find a partner with the hope of building something solid together. I wonder what you guys think?

There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them” – Bruce Lee.
One thing all great inventors, achievers, billionaires, and revolutionists have in common is the ability to predict the future and make it happen. They keep the world spinning with wonderful inventions and ideas that touch everyday lives, and this is a fact.
The power of predicting the future belongs to those who control their today. They craft their tomorrow the same way master goldsmiths create incredible pieces of art. They see it; they own it; they take it!

Failed Marriages in Nollywood: Stakeholders Share Their Perspectives on How Fame Affects Family Life

 ???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Some movie producers have attributed most failed marriages among Nollywood actresses to their inability to draw the line between the professional demands and family responsibilities.
The producers, who made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in separate interviews in Abuja on Tuesday, said that societal pressures were also responsible for their inability to enjoy stable marriages.
Benson Akindeju, producer of television drama series Family Ties said most failed marriages among Nollywood actresses were due to their inability to draw the line between the profession and family.
Akindeju stated that although Nollywood actresses had used some of their movies to mend the cracks in the unions of some viewers, many of their own marriages had been characterised with heartbreaks, separations and divorces.
“I think the problem starts with their inability to manage stardom and professional success. They could be humble at the initial stage of their careers, but the moment fame comes they tend to lose everything.
They forget that no matter the situation, an African man will always want to command respect from his wife.
They always forget that nothing lasts forever. No matter her fame or achievements, a woman without a husband may not be regarded as a successful person in the African context,’’ he said.
Bisi Bada, a Nollywood producer, in a telephone interview with NAN said the way the society regards actors and actresses as semi-gods affects them in the home front.
She said that people do have issues in their marriages but the public usually do not know about them because they are not popular like actresses or actors.
“The way and manner our young people take our actresses as role models has given them undue publicity and they are not living within reality. So, marital problems that lead to divorce happen in our society daily and are not restricted to Nollywood.
I am using this opportunity to call on all our actors and actresses in the industry to see themselves as having roles toplay toward encouraging the marriage institution. This they can do by making their individual marriages work no matter the challenges they are facing,’’ she said.
Tosin Abikoye, a civil servant said that actresses had desecrated the marriage institution with their serial divorce predilections in recent times.
“Marriage is an institution ordained by God but Nigerian celebrities do not tend to believe in it with their different breakups. I implore them to have a change of attitudes toward marriage and begin to tolerate the ups and down it presents to them.
The list of Nollywood actresses facing marital challenges seems to be endless, while some have tasted broken marriages, others have continued over the years to be eligible sprinters.”
